hi. first of, that's a great zend book ... 2 questions: in your book, you say: "Zend Framework chose not to implement the ActiveRecord pattern and not to ship with an Object-Relation Mapper (ORM). Contrary to popular opinion, this was not an oversight but a conscious decision by the framework team."

1. Do you now why?
2. What about adding an external ORM component to work with ZF?

thanx in advance :-)

Hi Cal,

Thanks for the book at first!

I think, that the emailCheck() method should return true, if no emailAddress was found in the database, because actually emailCheck() method return false in the follow cases:
1. if emailAddress was not found in the db (what we need to allow registering) and
2. if emailAddress validation fails (where you need to give the user a second chance)

The two cases:
 emailAddress not valid and
emailAddress not exists in the db
should be processed successively, but not return the same result.

sorry if i have overseen anything :)

(Sorry for my bad English :))

Your book is simply fantastic. Being reading lots of tutorials and watching webinars. But your book simply brings all the pieces together. Great work!!

I just bought the pdf version in the early hours of this morning and I'm glad I did. Even though I am new to OOP in PHP 5 I decided to use the Zend Framework as I believe it to be very flexible and easy to use (this was confirmed from reading your book). I haven't quite finished it yet as I wanted to work through the examples a bit more, thank you Cal for writing such an amazing book.
